been golfing lately? I've recently immersed myself into this activity and I've taken quite a liking to it
Been playing heaps.

This has been my first season of playing competitively after a lapse of a few years.

Handicap has been fluctuating between four and five through the last few months, which I'm fairly satisfied with.

You?

What's the strongest part of your game?

Have you had any lessons?
Yes I've taken about 5-6 lessons after playing alot and I can see drastic improvements. I am fairly consistent with my irons and wedges. My main issue lies with driving because I have a terrible slice which also leaves my 3 & 5 woods useless when needed most on longer par 5 holes.

How's your putting?

If you're decent with your wedges and are okay at putting you'll be breaking 100 easily soon enough.

I've never been strong off the tee - to the point that I actually don't have a driver in my bag because I'm so poor with it that it does me more harm that good.

Not that comfortable with woods in general, so I tend to focus on hitting my 2- or 3-iron off most tees. I hit them far enough (can hit the 2-iron ~230 yards) that it doesn't really disadvantage me on most courses. Just when I go and play a properly long course that it can be a struggle.

Putting is skiddish. I do try to 2-putt everything and not try to over read greens but I definitely agree that good putting can shave strokes.

When it comes to driving all I want to be able to do is hit straight and be playable instead of ending up on the right all the time. I don't care to bomb the drive 250yds or anything (because I definitely cannot). 200yds max and on the fairway is all I ask for really.

I spent a couple of weeks recently where I was leaking everything to the right.

Turned out my alignment was wrong (stance too open, with my feeting pointing left of the target) and my grip was a little weak (couldn't see quite as much knuckle on my left hand as I should).

Zillion different things that could be causing your slice, though.

Very true. I think it's because my driver stance is too wide and I'm turning my lower body on the downswing thus causing the slice. I know this because I developed the habit with my irons and fixed with with firing my hips simultaneously on my downswing.

I am definitely going to take a few more lessons to sure up my driver and woods.

Dru, you sound like a fag.

Everyone knows it's because you have no power in your core, and your legs are as thin as angel hair pasta.

Ah, I remember doing that for a while.

Meant everything was through the shot too early, which meant the club face was open at impact and the ball squirted right.

Think I fixed it just by really focusing on keeping very still through the downswing.

Lost me some distance for a little while, but was able to gradually build that back up once I'd rediscovered a solid base and regained confidence.

    Congrats.
