Over the weekend I did a great hike in the Los Padres National Forest in Big Sur and used a GPS to find some hidden trails to get to the beach. But to get there, I had to follow a dry river bed that was loaded with trees, boulders, and flying insects around a few sparse pools of still water. :sick:

I managed to get whacked in the throat by a big-ass tree branch of a broken tree that got swept up in the rocks and pretty much split in half on me when I put my weight on it.

So now I talk like the Godfather since I've got a bruised windpipe.

I like 'em. The Brazilian style is a little diluted for me. In Lisbon I prefer uma bica, with the equivalent in Porto being um cimbalinho -- with that original name coming from the original La Cimbali machines they imported from Italy to make it.

Heavy production, but I like it. This season has had a much higher body count for my tastes. I don't mind the violence, but I need purpose in it to make it relevant to the story. (Another reason why shows like Game of Thrones doesn't work for me.)

I'd still say watch The Wire if you haven't yet.
