I'm pretty sure 'chav' comes from the Geordie slang 'charver', which is a Romany gypsy word for child travelers. Sometimes people might say now that your typical chav 'looks like a right gypo', because local gypsies and chavs dress very similarly

Oh man. While I was in Melbourne, my mate just got back from a two week trip in Indonesia. He then went to the market, bought some groceries, picked me up from the city, drove me to his farm up north, we stayed overnight, he cooked everything, had a barbecue the next day, cleaned up, and took me around some towns, places to sightsee and around his farm, we drove back, and he also sent me to the airport at 7am. That shit cray, it was so nice.
