We do have a different language here than just English. It's a broken form of French called Patois. I do not speak a word of it though.

The people I work with are all from the Caribbean, whatever language they speak to each other in I cannot even begin to understand .

Isn't Patois just a generalization of non-standard or "pigeon speak"? Meaning different cultures have their own Patois like Gulf Coast, Carolina Islands, Louisiana, Caribbean, etc.

Creole doesn't have to be French, it's any language that originated from a pidgin. I think.
