China basically piled up two billion dollars of cash in the middle of the stadium and burned it all. That was pretty exciting, come to think of it. And it signaled the beginning of the end... the financial and credit markets collapsed just three months later.
I donno about the ceremony but the whole beijing was literally on fire! I was way to drunk to make use of my tickets and instead stayed back at the bar. Turned out to be a great night.
