I chose to not attend funerals because I don't like sit in a room full of people that are upset in a bit to celebrate someones life. I'd rather remember the good times I had with them in my own way....thats not selfish, thats preference. I also don't see how anyone could enjoy the idea of there family being misserable and upset on their behalf...

It's hard to feel pretty chipper at those. Unless, of course, you're Irish. (The best funerals, btw. The stereotype is mostly true.) But they play an important role in society, just as burial rites.

Everybody grieves differently. You can't expect everyone at such a gathering to want to sing happy show tunes and tap dance. Shutting them all out and ignoring everybody isn't exactly the greatest move there either.

it has to feel weird for sure sheik, but its a noble ( cant think of the other word i wanted to use to be honest ) thing to do, i would've done the same had i been in yr place. i mean thats the respect you show to a human being who is no longer with us.


i think the hardest part is not the funeral at least for me, the hardest part is that dreaded phone call!!! god i've had the ill fortune of being on the receiving end of the two phone calls that acknowledged me that my family members have left us. those i hate the most, the funeral it self i can pretty much hold my self perfectly ( not that i'm heartless or chuck noris)

You know what's worse? Coming home from school in the middle of the day and seeing your fathers' corpse lying in the living room, and you mom in the worst state you've probably ever seen her.

Or at least, that's my most horrible experience.

look bro, sadly death is part of life that we all will go thru no one lives on this world forever as much as this planet rocks we have to leave it. just relax as sheik mentioned and use it as sth positive in yr life. think of things you would like to accomplish in yr life, places u want to go too, things or habits you would like to get rid of stuff like that. ex: i've been meaning to quit smoking lately it has sucked big time i have to say but i keep trying until i just get rid of it and i decided to do this after losing my dad last year, and after hearing about chester's dad, it has really moved me to quit this habit. this is an example not more not less i'm sure there are awesoem things u would want to do.

good luck with that jasp, i actually quite once for the same period and then due to horrible judgement not really i actually loved smoking back then and decided to return thinking i can do it again so i'm trying once again to really get rid of smoking.
