I see what you're saying. Sadly, there's no real fix to this problem - there are just different ways of dealing with it. But good luck trying to explain a suburban family that a part of their taxes will go to pay for clean syringes.
My "suburban" family would not have a problem with that, if it is for getting people better in a safe environment.

Background story: For most of my life I've been the ultimate good girl. Never got into trouble at school, never got into fights etc. Then last night happened. :sergio:

I went to a Carnival fete and went to the bathroom with my sister-in-law for ten minutes. When I came back one of our friends ran up to us and told us that someone had beaten up my brother. When we got to him he was bleeding, he could not even stand on his own and everybody started crying except me. I just flew into a rage especially when I heard that the attack was unprovoked. To see my brother like that was the hardest thing. Anyway when the police caught the guy, I just grabbed him by the neck and clawed him. I had to be pulled away by my cousin I was that angry. Anyway point is I became that individual that I am always preaching to the guys not to be. :sergio: I don't know what came over me last night.

We took him to the hospital and he is ok. They said if he is displaying any symptoms of a concussion to bring him back although I was insistent on getting him checked last night. But it's Trinidad and the doctors here are horrid. But he is ok today.
oh wow, I hope your brother is alright.

And I don't blame you for doing that at all, it's human nature. If someone did that to one of my family members I'd freak out too.

Wow, Risa, I am so sorry to hear what happened to your brother. I think I would have done the same thing, despite being like you and always wishing I could be the calm, peaceful one.

I was just on my phone telling my friends what I did and they were in disbelief. They could not imagine behaviour like that coming from me. They were like they wish they had seen me in action. :p I was with my friends earlier on at the fete but had left when one of their now ex-boyfriends tried to hit a girl for elbowing him. Was definitely not condoning that behaviour or staying around it. Last night was just no-win. *sigh* I knew I should have stayed home!

I hope your brother recovers well, if he's okay today then it's probably nothing.

I also hope you got the fucker good, gouged an eye preferably.

Garh, I hate it when that happens. The stereotypical suburban family who consider heroin tabu and have grown up on the anti drug commercials. I know it's a gross generalization, but I was shocked at how little sympathy there were for abusers out there.

I simply can't get over the fact that you feel bad for reacting after someone beat up your brother. Why Aris?

:agree: As much as I hate being stereotyped as suburban.

Guys who hit girls are scumbags.
Oh they are!

My nails are very short so I doubt he even got a small scratch.

Because that is not me. I don't condone that type of behaviour at all!

 I acted like a huge bitch last night even with the police. The paramedic told me to pick him outside so I went and got my car but the police had the sections barricaded and they refused to let me pass or believe me and tried to divert me elsewhere. I shouted at them I was not going anywhere without picking him up until they finally caved in and let me pass. Hell hath no fury like an angry woman. :p
