The problem is more who is going to take care of them/pay for their care? I agree that people should be able to make their own choices about these things, but what about those who are then forced to care for them?
The state, of course. With the money they are going to shoot into the the public check balance, there should be room for clinics where people can fix. I believe in a society which takes care of the weak, and seeing how heroin usage isn't going to explode if it's legalized - I think that people who have that disease should have some care.

When I say legalize I don't mean encourage though.

I agree with you, but I do worry about the encouragement part. As well at the moment public healthcare is stretched beyond its means without even having to factor in that kind of care.

How do you worry about the encouragement part?

My specific case of reference is the danish health care which is more than capable of taking care of the people. They even have some clinics with voluntaries working, but they lack funds because the projects aren't allowed to receive funds from the state.

I am glad they are. My only point of reference in this, and I have not read nearly as much as you likely have, is the English healthcare system and the English education system. I worry about the education system and drug/sex education in many ways, and I think there are very deeply ingrained problems there that might make things more difficult than they might be in Denmark. But I know nothing about Danish society, so I can't say for sure. The funding and the support for such a programme just aren't there in England, and no one seems to know how to address the question of the class divide.

I see what you're saying. Sadly, there's no real fix to this problem - there are just different ways of dealing with it. But good luck trying to explain a suburban family that a part of their taxes will go to pay for clean syringes.

Background story: For most of my life I've been the ultimate good girl. Never got into trouble at school, never got into fights etc. Then last night happened. :sergio:

I went to a Carnival fete and went to the bathroom with my sister-in-law for ten minutes. When I came back one of our friends ran up to us and told us that someone had beaten up my brother. When we got to him he was bleeding, he could not even stand on his own and everybody started crying except me. I just flew into a rage especially when I heard that the attack was unprovoked. To see my brother like that was the hardest thing. Anyway when the police caught the guy, I just grabbed him by the neck and clawed him. I had to be pulled away by my cousin I was that angry. Anyway point is I became that individual that I am always preaching to the guys not to be. :sergio: I don't know what came over me last night.

We took him to the hospital and he is ok. They said if he is displaying any symptoms of a concussion to bring him back although I was insistent on getting him checked last night. But it's Trinidad and the doctors here are horrid. But he is ok today.
