I can't equate racism with homophobia, but what I believe is, as long as you're not harassing or slandering these people, it's all good.

Neither are a choice, they are natural occurences - they are on exactly the same level.

There are no reliable studies too show that same sex couples are damaging to a childs growth, in fact there are lots of studies that show same sex couples provide a more stable upbringing.

For lack of a better word. I run into those types quite often. When they ask me what I think of homosexuals, and I reply "Meh I don't really care" - it becomes their quest for the evening to tell me all those great things about being gay. Those types who think that if you're not vocally supportive of everything the gay community wants and requires you're a homophobe.

Yea but those people are just self righteous assholes. You come across all sorts of people like that regardless of sexual preference so I don't think that is really representative of homosexuality in any way.

They don't do it anymore and its because the brothers that founded Costa are from Milan and when people think of Italy it will be a small number of things - Pizza, Pasta, Ancient Rome and Fashion. If you want to market a product based on a national brand image then of the four, Fashion would be the one to go for - Milan is the home of Italian fashion and the connotations that go along with Milan serve well as a brand image.

Except the brand image in my mind is that Milan is great for fashion but shit for pizza and coffee.

I in general disregard italian coffee in favour of south asian coffee but its bloody hard to get hold of in the UK, Civet Coffe is about $30 for 250gms. Given i use 7 gms per shot and 4 shots in a large cup of coffee that would be $30 for 9 cups of coffee. As it is i use a blend of arrabica and robusta.

Civet coffee is the shit they sell to the coffee tourists who cannot tell the difference between quality and price.

There's a thought police issue that I can have a problem with here. Racism exists. Homophobia exists. People cannot control how they think, though they can try to counteract it. The problem becomes when how they think influences how they act and how they act with others.

I know, that's why I elaborated and gave examples of these types from other groups in society that I dislike the same way. Never claimed it to be a fair representation of homosexuality.

Every time I discuss this I think of that Seinfeld episode where they all go around saying "Not that there is anything wrong with that"

I've known about Kopi Luwak for years - when I saw the bucket list and heard it being mentioned in the first 5 mins I knew the joke was coming. And the stomach acids change the flavour of the bean. Have you had it? It is really nice, and this is coming from a person that spent a year calibrating grinders and tasting espresso to make sure the flavours were balanced etc. When most people wouldn't know the difference. Regardless, Vietnam is the second/third biggest coffee producer in the world and the coffee I was drinking day in/day out in asia was some of the best i've had in my life.

Also, I didn't drink (to my knowledge) civet coffee once when I was in asia . When i said south east asian coffee I meant general coffee, arabica etc. All we get is south american grown beans...which i dont like. I mention civet coffee as the only one we can get which costs $30 a pack.

Bah. Most of Vietnam is known for mass-produced robusta that I call "disgusta"... stuff the Big 4 swooped in and chemically treated to taste more like arabica coffee and to save a few bucks per pound for its heartier, more productive lot.

There's good robusta out there to be sure (most I've found in India and a few other places -- depends on how they handle it). And Vietnam has some decent coffee, but it's the ridiculous minority there.

As for civet coffee, it just tasted like a sad gimmick novelty coffee to me... nothing to write home about but the story. Here's what I wrote about it on my blog a little over 4 years ago:
