I can't judge him as a director. The only one I've seen is Braveheart and I am a massive sucker for historical films, so I would enjoy almost anything.

And I know what you mean about girl films. Every now and again I get dragged to boy films, and every now and again they turn out to be really good. Sometimes they're just stupid.

apocalypto is a must

especially if you can watch it on BR - the movie was shot in HD and it's eerie how real the picture looks on a decent TV, absolutely amazing.
it's a very graphic movie, however, not for anybody's stomach
