i have a small problem nine out of ten I forget the name one second after they told me :) to early my brains start at 13 pm
but i only have like 3 co workers in the nearby and i know 2 names already :stuckup:

Yeah but when you want to remember the name of someone you meet, its not very helpful to associate their name to another persons face.

But that's the beauty of associative memory: you can associate their names with anyone or anything. Usually, the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear their name. That's what I do. It could be a real person, or object, or abstract entity.

If I meet a guy called Brad and immediately associate his name with the face of Brad Pitt, how am I supposed to recognise him the next time I see him if I've associated 'Brad' with Brad Pitts face and not the man I met? I wouldn't have remembered his face and wouldn't remember his name. I thought it was the face of the person you associate their name with every time, not something completely irrelevant with the same name.

I think it's that your memory retains his face as someone you know but associates it with Brad Pitt at the same time, in the same way you can know that you know someone but have forgotten their name...I think.
