He'll be in good hands. Just make sure he can pass the ball, most important part of the game kids don't get.
Well, he's pretty tall for a 7 year old. Chances are he might end up being as tall as me (6'4"), so aside from passing, I want to work on lateral footwork with him, and positioning. I think he will grow into either a Striker or a CB, given his height. He actually is a pretty good passer, but like most 7 year olds, he hasn't really learned how to pass using the side of his foot. He controls the ball fairly well, but he looks down too much when he is dribbling.

I went to his final match of the season yesterday, and let's just say that the coaching is lacking. I know that 7 year olds go out there just to have fun and run around, but as he gets older, and ends up outgrowing kids in his age group, he may end up getting bumped up a level or two, and with the lack of fundamentals that are being taught, he will be way out of his league, and I don't want him to get discouraged.

Obviously his size will be an advantage. If you can get him the ball skills that would be good. Try to figure out what his best talents are and guide him to the right position that suites his attributes. If he's not quick, then probably CB.

How was your golf, Dru?
I found out that I have a great mid-range game. I was straight killing it with the irons and I'm not bad with a wedge either. But putting as always remains the hardest part of the game for me as it does for a lot of people.

We played florida scramble and my team didn't even keep score after the 6 hole. It was 100 degrees with nearly equal humidity and we were on our 3rd six-pack by the 2nd hole tee.
