From what I heard most pools are so full of chlorine it doesn't even matter.
Bromine is usually used too, but at low concentrations since it is a strong oxidizing agent, a bit toxic, and over exposure for a long period of time might cause infertility.
I have a lab session where bromine is used in addition to Alkene, and since the students tend to not listen well during the pre-lab, I always start the pre-lab talk with the infertility thing, to scare them off, so they will focus

I was at the pool with a couple friends one time and this guy bought his turtle with him and straight up let it swim in there. You think that caused any damage to it? I did mention death but he just laughed it off.

Man, I am so pissed off right now. My bookie announced that there'll be a free bet for the CL game, up to 25e.

For example, you bet 20e on United and you'll get another 20e which you can spend via livebetting after the kick-off. The best thing is, even if you lose, you'll get that money back.

I placed 20e on 2-3 goals, and after that I read, for the first time in my life, terms and conditions which says that Serbia is not eligible

Fuck my lifeeeeeeeeeeee

Short period exposure should not do a lot of harm, since those regulated concentrations are usually low. Now this is doesn't apply to the Middle East, where you could smell chlorine from far away, they think in some areas, that too much is good :sergio: Here in North America you can't even notice it,

 My chem teacher tried that on us. It can cause blindness etc. Idk why but I wouldn't listen even stood under a dripper once and didn't realize it till she yelled at me (I was staring at it). Man im a bad chemist

The smell over there must be overwhelming. That's a big reason of why I prefer the beach over pools, but hey beggars can't be choosers.

I don't make up such stuff though. I tend to tell them exactly how the chemicals they are working with can harm them, just to make sure they are safe in the lab. Safety is our main priority, then comes in learning techniques. The problem is, many students don't want to be in the lab for 3-4 straight hours, and want to finish the experiment asap, which tend to bring a lot of bad habits, such as not being careful, touching chemical, and even smelling them, which is a big NO. I once had a student adding concentrated bromine to her reaction flask, and she was using here bare hands to clean some bromine droplets off the flask. Another student broke a thermometer but didn't tell me, so she had mercury balls in her fume hood, she was touching them and thinking it is fun, I walk by and she is like, this is fun, I look at the fume hood, WHAT THE HELL :sergio:

Beggars take a dump in the ocean too, but that's another story.
