So, working with cranks in the Internet biz as I do day in and day out, it finally hit me what I find so offensive about Web sites that require a Facebook account for you to be able to log in to them. I've always thought that my social network isn't any business of my local newspaper, etc. But the real analog is a bit like the companies that used to request your social security number for things having nothing to do with it.
