I dunno. I do tons of hiring, especially right now where I am 1/3 of the way through hiring 9 people. Cover letters are nice, but I honestly ignore them unless your resume confuses me and I want to figure you out. Otherwise, keep that resume relatively concise and to the point, on what you did and what you accomplished and the things you used/learned getting there.

It's a Google search, keyword-driven world out there now.
