Cell phone carriers

I can't wait for the day that all phones work on the same band/technology. An even playing field where any device from any manufacturer can work on any carrier. Thus leaving the pricing plans the only possible criteria for carriers to compete over
What exactly happened?

Speaking of cell operators, I changed my operator to Airtel a week ago. My bill is already Rs.1081. $24 in a week!

Time to go home. See you guys later. Bye.

That's like asking Microsoft to support Linux.

Its gonna happen, trust me

Just like how ISP's, home phones service, etc..

The technology will become cheaper and all things will be made equal thus leveling the playing field. Google will be the first to develop a single handset that works on both GSM/CDMA (across all respective bands) that supports any type of HSPA+ architecture. Also the number of carriers will reduce as well. It will only leave the consumer the decision to make on who they want to sign up for. Plus, I see contracts going away and the month-to-month unlimited use plans will take over. Again, similar to internet/tv/home phone.
