So there's this TV show on Swedish TV lead by Fredrik Skavlan, he always has great hosts and interesting topics. Tonight he has a linguist from England, Sir Ken Robinson. Sir Robinson thinks that schools kill our creativity. He then goes to support his theory by telling a story:

There was at this school in a drawing class a little girl completely distracted in drawing and not paying attention what the teacher is saying. The teacher approaches her and asks what she was doing, the girl replied that she was drawing god.

The teacher replies back saying that no one knows how god looks like so that the girl would reply:

We will all know in a while!

Funny chain of coincidences, I know Skavland very well from Norwegian tv, he got "promoted" to Swedish tv where the audience is slightly bigger (and they still broadcast him in Norway at prime time anyway). I also know Robinson from a TED lecture I saw of his.

Skavlan is great, he was voted the best Swedish TV host. I watch his show every Friday. Did Robinso talk about The Beatles in TED?

I have doubts about the impartiality of this study.
Sounds to me like one of the researchers was looking to get out of hot water with his wife.

TED. What a bunch of egoist shitheads who don't do anything.

I don't remember. He talked about a little girl who was diagnosed with hyperactivity in school, she just couldn't sit still in class. The parents were very worried, they went to see the school counselor. The counselor said there's nothing wrong with her, she just likes dancing. The girl went on to become a professional dancer. The theme was the same, "how we kill creativity" (or in this case, nearly did).

Less self-congratulation would be a start. Less faux intellectualism, packaging New Yorker soundbytes as if it were Science journal, would be another.

I don't always agree with Nassim Taleb, but he nailed them.
I am not too much into TED and what they, I have only watched some lectures and thought they were good.
