This made me think of all the alcoholics I knew in Pennsylvania who joined the volunteer fire department so they could have access to beer on Sundays at the house vending machine.
Great story from a very good friend of mine. His son, whom I've known since he was about 5 and is now a student at Berkeley, has amazing concert karma. He apparently went to see Prince play at the Oracle Arena in Oakland a few days back. He's in the front off to the side and Prince is banging on bongos with Shiela E. when Prince's huge honking ring flies off and heads straight for my friend's son. He catches it, he's swarmed by security. Security confirm its a ring and say they'd be back for it after the show once they check on things. They never show. Freaking kid now has Prince's ring -- this gigantic gem-studded thing the size of Chiellini's nose.
