Basically a center back that covers behind two marking players. Requires ball handling skills and the ability to read the game.

Like a Libero, basically. I always played midfield before my final year in high school. Then our coach decided to switch to a 5-4-1 where all we did was put 11 behind the ball and try to strike on the counter. I helped lead the team from the back while we had fast players further up the pitch. I guess it worked... we wouldn't have beaten the likes of The Heights School (Freddy Adu's former team) if we did not put so many behind the ball and play defense as a collective unit.

4-5-1 is the formation which helped romania in wc 94...it was a 4-4-1 actually but they hit hard on the counter

Yeah, the Libero role was used in the glory days of Catenaccio. But this system we deployed was like catenaccio on steroids.

Not at all. Contrary to what some might say in Europe, footie here is highly competitive. I never had the speed to play at a high level.
