That's not bad, depending on how many books you had to get. I just bought 2 books today for $80. One isn't even a book, it's just a bunch of articles bound together.
So. You know that moment when, after watching a scary movie, you go to your room. And there's no one around and it's dark. And you're not really afraid because you're all grown up, but you still feel something. I've noticed that every single time this happens I think about the same thing:

North Face and Columbia used to sell completely top quality gear. The still do (sell some quality stuff), but the lesser expensive stuff tends to wear faster. I got a couple pairs of pants and a fleece a couple years ago and I only have one pair of pants left.
I guess it depends on what you do. If you use it for everyday wear, then it's probably cool.
