Living reasons or some other issues?
I just don't know if I could stomach the mentality of society in another environment. I'm kind of in a safe cocoon here. Not everyone here thinks that everyone but the U.S. is evil, that English was good enough for Jesus so we should all speak only English, and that the flying spaghetti monster deserves a place in the books for educating children to cope with the world's future.

The danger of that is that it is insular... hanging out with like-minded people doesn't really enlighten you much at all. But all those others to me feel like they're from another planet... let alone do I necessarily identify with them as fellow citizens.

You ever see those Nazi Germany polls? Like which archetype would you fall into should the Nazi's rise to power in your own country? I always end up in the means-to-escape-to-another-country lot, learning another culture and language if necessary (if not desired). Maybe that makes me a coward, but I'm not in the stand-and-fight-the-oppressors-as-an-insurgent type.

I can't wait to hit the beach. I'm so pale I look like one of the Twilight characters
One of my best friends here in SF is a Greek citizen who moved here when he was 2. He's one of the closest things to a 'native' I know.

He went to high school with a bunch of Latinos who nicknamed him "G.E.", as in he stuck out like a lightbulb as the only white kid in class.

And this is a Greek guy we're talking about ... hardly a Norwegian.

I've had cracking times in San Francisco and New York, but couldn't see myself living in either, and can't say much of America in between the two holds much interest for me.
Vegas would probably suit you pretty well. If I had money to burn I'd definitely be living it up there.

I agree about the robot part Rab, my parents have been bitching about that since they got here.

Aww

Congratulazione

What's her name?
Kira. Greek name. My sister's name is Katia so she picked something similar to her name.

Then Dubai is for you, sir.

Chicago.

Bang bang. :D

But I lived in Chicago for many years, a few years near Washington, DC (and near Baltimore, for you The Wire fans), and a failed experiment in Durham, NC. :D
