Living reasons or some other issues?
I just don't know if I could stomach the mentality of society in another environment. I'm kind of in a safe cocoon here. Not everyone here thinks that everyone but the U.S. is evil, that English was good enough for Jesus so we should all speak only English, and that the flying spaghetti monster deserves a place in the books for educating children to cope with the world's future.
The danger of that is that it is insular... hanging out with like-minded people doesn't really enlighten you much at all. But all those others to me feel like they're from another planet... let alone do I necessarily identify with them as fellow citizens.
You ever see those Nazi Germany polls? Like which archetype would you fall into should the Nazi's rise to power in your own country? I always end up in the means-to-escape-to-another-country lot, learning another culture and language if necessary (if not desired). Maybe that makes me a coward, but I'm not in the stand-and-fight-the-oppressors-as-an-insurgent type.
