I read the tutorial in their forums, and it seemed to work fine for many of them. So I think I'll take the plunge soon after I finish some work.

This particular model number has been launched three times I think... Anyways, I have to find a weekend when I my roommates are not home to do anything with the router now. Downtime isn't appreciated at the place :D

I remember the original WRT54G. It was huge and had antennas. The 54G2 was a relaunch with the updated design and internal antennas. I can't remember a third one.

I think that's just country-wise differentiation. I can imagine that one thing that is different in those versions is the wireless channels available. Since radio signals are govt. regulated, You can't have a wireless device that transmits on channel 13 in say, the US. Cos in US, there can only be channels 1-11. In India, it's 1-13. So the difference isn't much, but it becomes necessary to launch them as different devices.
