Woke up a few minutes ago from a call from my IT guy. We had big problems getting out new laptops connected to the HP Network. Apparently, the DHCP IP pool was maxed out in our subnet, so the laptops would not get an IP. Hopefully they'll fix it now and we won't have any problems when we get there in 2 hours.

Asif, try it.

I don't know much about it. Sounds fun :D
Sounds to me like a bit of a pain tbh. Security is one of those scare words that you can use to get people who have no clue about technology (ie. MBA types) to start paying attention. zomg viruses.

And where you have scared and gullible people you inevitably have scammers and fakers in large numbers. "Our security product will solve all your woes" etc.

And that's a sad thing, because security actually matters.

A couple of years ago I got a little interested in the hacker community and if you're interested in security you should check it out too. There are some really clever people there who do important work. It's not really my field, so I never tried to learn this stuff, but it's interesting to keep an eye on nonetheless.

The biggest hacker conference (iirc) is Defcon, but I don't know if they have talks available for download. What I know for certain is that Shmoocon do, and I've watched lots of theirs in the past. If you don't find those on their sites there's a chance youtube has something. Or just google around.

 I will give the talks a try. Even if I don't move to the field, a little knowledge can do no harm
