Robert C. Byrd died last night at 3:00am at the age of 92. He was the US Senator representing the district in West Virginia where Burke and I live. Overall I'd say he was a great Senator. He did more for the state than anyone else ever has or ever will.

He has a sordid past in which he was a KKK member and somewhat of a racist (During the 1940s). Which lead to some unfavorable quotes. Though in his older age he acknowledged the idiocy of his youth becoming an advocate for every man. He was the only member of Congress to vote against the Patriot Act and his comments predicting the Iraq war were so dead on they could almost be prophetic.

I've met him a couple of times.

RIP Big Daddy.
