That ref in particular in the past didn't do a good job so they might give him a rest for a while. It happens in other tournaments or leagues. Some don't ref internationally or go in lower leagues.

I think FIFA should do something, stuff like this makes the credibility of the World Cup go down to the floor. I can't believe a team went through to the most important football event in the World by cheating and they don't do anything !
One could say the same about Grosso in the World Cup, so its all hypocrisy.

Perhaps he should have been banned for the dive and the match should have been replayed...

It's only fun when it suits the non-offender.

but they didnt, ireland played more than just this game and had favorable decisions go their way as well. We should not act on impulse and emotions(it's too much to ask a girl isnt it :D ) but abide by rules.

What decisions? Anelka's dive?

I agree with you in essence but nothing was more screwed up and unfair than that Henry crap.

Watching Pirates of the Carribean 2, I think Twilight is less gay than this movie

    Agree.
How do you drink brandy? I've never tried it
Should be warmed and drank out of a snifter.
should we punish every handball? should we only punish handballs in the area? or should we punish handballs in the area in extra time of "important" games? It has to be consistent; like i said its really unfortunate that it happened in those circumstances but i'm against PR fines/suspensions. The ref had no way of seeing it, and it seems he followed procedure so he should not be punished either.
    Could not agree more.
Do you guys think Henry was 100% aware that he was doing it?
Meh, it's hard to speculate, I think he knew he used his hand, but as fast as it happened he probably just said, "FUCK, PLAY IT IN!"

yes but it's instinct, it's not like he had time to think of the whole situation and weigh out all of its consequences. So imo he might be getting a little too much crap for this.
But one could say it would be instinct to kill Zidane after he head butts you to save your life... doesn't make it right.

As a pro you know your boundaries, and even as a player in the game for 15 years I don't recall intentionally using my hand because it's against the rules...

it's unfair if you only look at that game for reference but if you look at it as a whole, meaning all decisions go for and against either team throughout qual's, the result might be a lot closer to fair.
But what other calls? I saw the second leg and nothing struck me that questionable except for the Anelka thing, which was a dive anyway.

But he touched it twice. The first time it more or less just hit him, pure instincts I'd say. The second time he controlled it with his hand, he knocked it in away from the touchline.
