You have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise you'd have 20 nationalities and your best friend would be Maher. You can't just like their culture and tradition so you could say "we're playing a friendly match against Holland tonight". Are you Italian? No. Do you like their culture and kitchen? Yes, I do as well. Is it ok to say it's your team? No it's not.

If someone starts to bash France would it irritate you? Or does it even bother you if they like that about Poland/Norwegia? If you feel like that with France then you can feel with 5 other nations. How can that be normal? If you were born in Poland and then move to Norwegia then I'd find it normal to feel like that to both nations but this?
As a matter of fact it does :irritated I can't really say why but it always has.

It's perfectly okay to not understand. But I think in such a case it's very rash to condemn. "I don't understand how you can feel that way, therefore you are wrong." It's not convincing.
