Is it a common thing that people get married and don't want kids?

Not where I live. Usualy people want kids here, and when they do get merried they want kids at some point in time soon. The proble is that most of them here only want one or two kids max.

i think its common enough with young people these days. i have a few friends who are married and have explicitly stated that they don't want kids. they in turn have 2-3 dogs instead

Yeah, I'd think that's common but some people get married and don't even plan getting kids. I consider marriage to continue relationship, start making family so I don't see any point if you don't want kids or am I wrong? You can live with a girl if that's the case without getting married.

Imho marriedge isn't needed at all. You can live, have children, start a family without being married.

Saying something like we're not strong financially shouldn't be an excuse IMO, unless it's really hard for someone. It's just weird to me.
