you have to sign up for an invite. i signed up months ago and only got an invite in july
i think you can make calls over the web for free and if you call another google voice # (whether intl or not) its free. so its pretty much like skype but its the sms feature is what puts it over the top as the awesomeness

they haven't released a mobile version of voice? i had no clue about that.
Wave is still far from beta and i don't know if they are offering the chance to sign up for invites yet. chrome will be released after some nice fine tuning. its rather unstable on the desktop so until they get it right i doubt there will be a mobile version before Q2 2010, but i could be wrong.
btw, have you played with the HTC Hero yet by chance? i'm planning on getting that as my next phone

Ok so this is what happen 10 min ago. I put in my facebook the following status

So, some how I got attacked by a couple of girls who are in my fb friends list, the girls did undergrad with me, but we don't usually talk.
What's wrong with my status.

I've been using Google Voice (back then it was called Grand Central) for about a year-and-a-half now. It's how all phone and voice mail systems should work in the future.
I've given it out on resumes, etc., when I was job hunting. Highly endorsed. It's also a great proxy for all your phones with some of the options of centralizing some call management features.
One thing I'd like, however, is the ability to block groups of callers -- a voice mail spam list as it were. The previous version had something like that, which was since removed when they rebranded it as Google Voice a few months ago.
Well, there's a massive anti-trust investigation now that an Apple VP loved the Google Voice iPhone app and suddenly the app was not approved -- with fingers pointing at AT&T.
Even so, you can get a lot from your mobile browser when you hit GV.
