Oh boy. Well it's just a routine thing, despite how creepy it feels.

What I don't get about the US job market is that just about everyone you talk to about their job won't tell you anything identifiable about it. They won't even say what company it is. Which makes me think they must have all demanded NDAs, otherwise why would they be so scared of divulging it?

Hmm, I've never really noticed that except for when asking people on internet forums. If you specifically ask somewhere in the States, they'll usually tell you. If they say they work for the government, well, that may become a bit touchy depending on the circumstances.

Well, think about it. Some people don't like to divulge much information on internet forums. The first name and type of job are the only things most people are willing to divulge on the net.

Well if you work for a 10-people company that's one thing. But to divulge that you work for IBM doesn't really say much.. have fun tracking me down.

Well if you work for a 10-people company that's one thing. But to divulge that you work for IBM doesn't really say much.. have fun tracking me down.

Yeah, maybe so. But there are many hackers out there who can probably find you, so it may be better to be safe than sorry.

That's just paranoia.

But this is typical in our society where people focus on the wrong things. Telling you the name of the company I work for is no go. But I think nothing of posting all kinds of personal information and pictures on facebook that is directly tied to my real name, not a forum pseudonym.

Yeah, it is sort of hypocritical. But at least you can take some privacy measures on FB.

It's called social engineering and if I know what I'm doing, how hard do you think it would be for me to contact you on facebook with a fake name and convince you to add me, or just people on your network so as to seem legitimate?

Of course one could do that. But then again, not all people put their place of work on FB for even friends to see.

But man, one has to be some sort of psycho to go through all these measures of finding a person.

i see what you mean. i think ppl are allowing themselves to get a bit carried away. don't get me wrong now, i was shocked and saddened by the news but i don't feel the need create a dedication post to MJ's greatness because i think his own greatness speaks for itself.

Lots of people join company networks, so at least you know that much. And I think that info is visible even if you're not added by the person.

i'm not saying that MJ did or did not do what he was accused of numerous occasions. i just don't care about that part of his life, i liked him for his music and thats the kind of rapport that i've kept with him

I don't know if you've been around for the Traitor Debates but it's the same thing. I was trying to beat it into people that just because you do something negative doesn't overrule everything good you've done. But a lot of people apparently are only able to hold one "truth" in mind at any one time, so you're either good or bad, there's nothing in between.

Take some player who's never played for us and the verdict is: neutral.
Take Cannavaro (or Thuram or Zidane or Zambrotta.. the list never ends) and it's: evil.
