2 of our fans were attacked by about 20 of the opposition fans after the match :(
Dundalk fans are the worst in Ireland. I won't post that on foot.ie, because I'd get stoned by Dundalk fans in denial, but as much as you occasionally have trouble between the big Dublin teams, or occasionally from others, Dundalk fans are consistently the worst of the lot. Some friends went to a match there once. They had a big flag with them, which was taken from them and set alight. Most of the scumbag fans won't bother with UCD - too few of us; even Bohs and Rovers rarely give us any bother.

Anyway, looks like the Galway fans in question got away with nothing more than a few bruises, while three Dundalk heads were arrested.

The winner of the league each season goes into one of the qualifying rounds of the CL. No Irish team have ever made it to the group stage though. Shelbourne came very close a few years ago, they went out to Deportivo in the last qualifying round.
Yeah, scores were 0-0 and 1-0, if I remember right. Always going to be tough as long as we're not seeded to avoid teams like Depor.

The March-November season means our teams are match fit in the early rounds of the CL, which is important for semi-pro teams.

Yeah, a large amount of the Dundalk fans were scum alright. They were throwing coins and stuff during the match aswell.
