Actually, one expert said they throw frozen Turkeys into the engines to test the sustainability of it. It's an Airbus apparently, so they do take proper measures, one would think.

But, in reference to the turkeys, I've heard that too, but that is untrue, it's a myth. If you think about it, it makes sense, throwing a frozen turkey into a turbofan engine is like throwing a bowling ball in there. Now the titanium fan blades are strong, but they are meant to compress air and sustain heat, not deal with frozen turkeys.
But I think what you may be thinking about is wind shields, they do bird test those.
