In a cover letter, should I include the fact that I'm really close to getting my commercial pilots license or is that not the purpose of that?
I always thought a cover letter should be a snapshot of your resume. A brief summary of the main points/accomplishments. Its kinda of a marker for whoever is reading it to catch their attention and want to read further and flip the page to your actually resume.

Normally something like that can be mentioned in the last paragraph, usually to illustrate your hard work ethic or something similar. But if the job has nothing to do with that, and you are planning on actually using that license soon in another job, then I might neglect to mention it.
Well it's kinda tricky...the job I'm applying for is a non-flying aviation job but they prefer people with flying experience.

Yeah that makes sense...I don't think I should specifically mention it then, it's in my resume anyway (I've got it written as: CPL expect Summer 2011).

Yep I was gonna wait too but I heard the 5 (or 4s) will only have a few cosmetic twitches, improved camera and I think a better processor but the OS will be the same
They all run the same OS. But if the 5 is out, that would likely mean a price drop on the 4.

Yea, I've kinda layed off of it for a month or so with the trip to Italy and all

I really need to get back on track though

Only if you're applying as a pilot.
