Greece is in mayhem right now.

This is some serious shit here.
The rioting stuff?

Reminds me of the Rome Derby that got abandoned a few years back.

My guess is the post mortem will say the kid was killed by a rikochet, rather than a straight shot by the police, and the whole thing will calm down.

What led to the kid's death in the first place?

Athens and Thessaloniki both seemed to be under siege right now from the live pictures I'm seeing.

BBC is suggesting it is just folk rioting for the sake of it now, rather than having a good reason...

I'm not sure why the police felt the need to fire initially, but they claim in was meant to just be a warning shot.

Hey, Zé. Sorry to hear of the news of your Tio. My thoughts to you and your family.

If the Greek police were smart, and I don't think they are, they'd allow an independent investigation with trusted people who wouldn't seem at the mercy of the police bureaucracy (if such a thing exists).

But I don't think that will make a difference at this point.

What led to the kid's death in the first place?
Kid got shot by a cops bullet, whether intentional or accidental.

It looks like the kid's killing is really just the match that lit the powder keg. People would not be doing something at this level on this scale if it was just a matter of a kid being wrongfully murdered by the cops.

Having seen situations first-hand where people have pent-up grievances and use some public disturbance as the outlet to express all their frustrations, this is a proxy public referendum on the government.
