i hope your travel plans aren't affected tahir
Unfortunately it has effected it. I just hope I can still make something of it. I wish I was leaving tomorrow because who knows what's going to happen tomorrow. If anything happens in Lahore in the next 10 days the whole trip might be in jeopardy.

I thought I'll take a little nap... fell asleep for 4 hrs instead... Now I'll have to have toast for dinner, as there's nothing else at home and all restaurants are closed at this hour...

Off we go with Vista.

Is there any smart way to remove the Vista logo without leaving scratches on the computer?
Actually, not that I know of. My Toshiba still has it. The problem is that the glue they use is very nasty, so once you remove the sticker the surface remains sticky :pumpkin:

Ok, now do something useful and suggest me a nice partition table for a 140 GB hard drive.

On my old laptop I removed the XP logo successfully but I am afraid to make any scratches on the new one.

I use about 25gb for /, size of RAM for swap, the rest for general purpose storage or space to use for experimenting with other distros/OSs/store vmware images/whatever.

No need for /boot ?

250 max
Crimbo is slang for christmas:)
250 pounds I guess. Well with this price you can't get a DSLR. Then it doesn't get much of a difference when it comes to a point and shoot but I'd still go with a Nikon.

Do you recommend /home on a separate partition?
I don't do that, as I prefer to allocate one big chunk of space and not plan how much to use for what. My ~ is 4.4gb out of the 25gb of / at the moment. But then I store large files on the other big slice of the disk that doesn't have any special purpose.

I read somewhere that having a /home on a separate partition is good to keep your settings and the likes where you can install the system on / as many times as you want.

I think I will go on like this:

/dev/sda1 2GB swap
/dev/sda2 10GB /
/dev/sda3 15GB /home
/dev/sda4 122GB /files

What do you think?

If I don't like it in the future, can I just merge / and /home into one 25GB / ?
