Hmm, we've got a deepening low in Eastern NC already. If this starts to get some legs and strengthens more rapidly, it could pull more cold air down from the North, allowing for the precip to remain snow for longer than anticipated in our area. Still looking like a lot of ice in the area, but we'll see.
Shit Nigel we could be in for an event.

How much you got?

Looks like a couple inches outside already. It only started about an hour ago as I was leaving the mountain.
A couple inches so far, but the precip accumulated right off the bat rather than melt off so the roads are shit. I just shoveled the walk when we got back from dinner and it's starting to fit in. It's low visibility right now.

It's a race against time for the coastal low to strengthen. Freezing rain line creeping North. Looks like we got a decent amount of cold air damming against the Appalachians to keep the precip to snow for a while, so now it's up to the low to speed up, deepen, and pull colder air down through the mid levels a few km's up.

Classic cold air damming.

:D That's might be too much yo

I met her in the chem department, she had a lab there! Went and talked to her! Threw a couple of nerdy chemistry jokes at her, she smiled. She will have another lab section next week!
