martin, i was having issues installing ubuntu last nite

i burnt the image to the cd as instructed but its sooo slow that i left it over night to install off the cd and even this morning b4 i left for work it was only at 3%!!!

the government usually does that for us! they cut the power at 7pm today... just when i was about take a shower and get ready for work!

Indian Govt. sucks! and our state govt. sucks ever harder and deeper!

that's not good. you should generally verify the checksum of the image on the cd, half an hour here saves hours later. anyway, this is not good. like dheeraj said you should try the alternative installcd. its the same distribution, just a less-prone-to-crash installer
