Think about it. In today's economy employers get hundreds if not thousands of applications via email. The object of the game is to separate yourself from the rest. A phone call turns you into a prospective employee rather than merely an application.
You grossly overestimate the ability of Irish management.

Fred you should put in your CV any kind of activities that you did during college/high school that show leadership skills/how proactive you are, etc. Anything that will set you apart from the rest
If you seem reliable enough in person, they may overlook your inexperience.

In addition a proper resume/CV should include not just writing down the things you've done, but also a brief description of those activities. This gives the employer more insight into you and is a good discussion piece for the interview.

Also remember to only include the activities if they actually relate to the job or if you can make them relate to the job.

Yep!!!!! I recently did that and it's been very helpful so far
