What's so brilliant about it? The only way to decrease the deficit is to halt government spending, which he knows. Yet every single one of his policies encourages the expansion of the deficit, from cash for clunkers to economic stimulus.

Other folks have the real idea of doing that, but they are laughed at. Now Obama is appealing to those who believe the deficit is a major problem after all these programs. Why didn't he address this before?

All prototypical Washington, lying, persuasive nonsense.

I thought his calling out of Congress was brilliant, as it seemed to catch Congress off guard.

As a nation our social policies suck balls. Education, health care, etc. All well below where they should be.

To his appealing to the other side, I guess he realized if he truly wants to accomplish something he's going to have address the deficit.

He's probably lying. Politicians and all that.

Awww, Obama wants to unite all Afghans with our presence, and he's confident we will succeed. How sweet.

Too bad you can't get further from the truth. Even CIA folks like Bob Baer claim that is impossible, and anybody who knows history would concur.

I'm appalled by this speech. At least what he said during his campaign could have come true.

You never know Aaron, here we thought the same thing and it happened right in front of us. There is a lot of uneducated people in the US that will believe all the lies a politician tells them

What like raising troop numbers in Afganistan? He actually campaigned for that, it was one of the few things I disagreed with him on.

Our political system is bit more sophisticated. But I guess it could happen, theoretically.

Obama said something about securing weapons around the world, and that we should go after nations that are a breach of security.

So why doesn't he go after Israel, a nation who sells weapons to China, a country that has ties to terrorist organizations in Darfur, to combat weapons proliferation? Wouldn't that constitute keeping the nation safe?

I could write an essay on how ridiculous his words are. It's nothing but whistling dixie. A fucking SHAME.

Israel is always going to be a pain in our ass. Sad to say.

Out of curiosity, what did you expect/want him to say?
