Why, you are dont have that? ;) Next thing y'll tell me you oirish dont have digital screens in regular bus stops that show ze bus time estimates :p

You basically text msg two simple letters (abbriviations for adult or youngster), pay a certain fee, and get instantly get back a receit that you can show the bus driver.

Pretty nifty, because when notice your bus card is empty or dropped it, and dont have cash on you, you dont have to go out of the bus feeling like a fool anymore (or be late, go all the way back home, look for nearest bank machine etc), but have this very accessible and practical option instead.

How about just buy a one time ticket from the driver? Would solve the problem.

You could always show the same sms receipt though and never pay your bus fare again

Hehe Fabiana, people tried that awhile, and few who found complicated ways to take advantage of that when this was new (weird way of sending out receipts to oneself etc), but yeah not going to work because they check time and date stamp of when paid, comes with every receipt.

P.S Bus and the paying systems for them is a rather regional/local thing in Sweden, so they can be rather different in counties, cities etc. Not sure how it is elsewhere. Though would assume practical applications like this is used in most of them.

You could save in your cell's phonebook your number as the number who always sends the receipt, and text yourself the same receipt they send you but change the time and date

I love trying to beat the system :D

we have no more buses here in the city. They went on strike these bastars. Wanted to get paid as much as police officers and fire fighters claiming there is job is stressfull. Driving a bus for 23$/hour is such a bad deal in a very safe city like London ontario.
