Actually, I think there are a lot of legitimate concerns over this stuff. And no, it's not just Republican Rednecks making a stink.

Many are even simply concerned that the bill will be rushed through Congress without proper inspection, just like the Economic stimulus bills.

The media is telling us that all these town hall meetings are being staged by paid Republicans to cause a ruckus against Obama, but that's a flat out lie. There is a town hall meeting in my area later this week and I may check it out for myself, which automatically proves that it's not just Republicans going to these things.

I didn't say that. All I'm saying is that the people being aired on TV aren't always a good representation of all citizens involved.

Now if this was a Palin rally and all those attending are cheering that Obama is a Muslim terrorist, then yes, those people are not intelligent.

But there are legitimate concerns over this health care bill.

i understand what you're saying about the media spin and the usual "showing what they want you to see" but the fact is that a high percentage of people don't know the facts. now i'm not saying that i myself know all the facts nor all the proposed components to the reform policy but never the less i would go to the town halls to learn and then ask, not to accuse and argue.

I don't know all the facts either, and the problem is that no matter where you look there is some spin to this stuff. MSNBC has basically come out to say that if you challenge this plan you're a racist, so I can no longer watch that channel.

The only way to figure things out is reading the proposal itself, which I'm not prepared to do because there are too many legal technicalities involved and the thing is just too damn long. So either way, the general public is basically in the dark about this. And since this is the case, I understand the outrage at rushing this thing through. We have to be extremely careful here, especially considering we have more urgent issues to deal with in this economy.

More urgent perhaps in your view, but I'm sure the people who are left without health care consider their situation relatively urgent too.

I get the feeling that these proposals being "rushed through" is happening routinely precisely because if you'd taken your time then the Republicans, committed to stonewall whatever comes out of Obama, and for no other reason, would have more time to mobilize.

Has there been a bill in recent history that wasn't rushed through? Even legalese turfed after they had read it to force in changes they wanted the back door? I mean this should happen once and raise hell, but no it's routine.

Clearly this legislation system is not working at all...

Not to minimize the situation of those who are dying and cannot receive help, but passing some bill that nobody has read or even understands could lead to even more problems. In the economic relief bills, it probably didn't matter how much time they inspected the bill because the Dems would have voted for it any way just to uphold party lines. The same will be the case with the health care bill.

This is why you can't get an honest answer out of Washington anymore. It's all politics and I honestly don't know if these elected officials read what they pass anyway.

The amount of looting, corruption and nonsense out of Washington continues to increase, and it will only take a revolution in this country to save it before it gets even worse.

There are still scads of people in denial that Obama has a legitimate U.S. birth certificate -- they cannot mentally accept reality. They're so convinced that a conspiracy is at work that they're unwilling to live in the universe of facts.
