Alabama is not Sweet and I sure as hell would never call it my Home. It is at least 3 times worse than NC, SC, and GA. It's a center for ants.
I bet.

It has to do with the temperature in winter and the ability to freeze ice. Whether you want to say it or not seasonal temperature has a lot to do with what sports you play in the winter.

In LA, GA, AL, etc you can play baseball, football, and soccer well into December or January. Not exactly hockey weather. It has nothing to do with the intelligence or "slackjawedness" of a population.
Umm, no. Many hockey players have originated from Southern Cal. The ice will not be as good, of course, but that's not the problem.

The problem is that the most poor and uneducated parts of the country are indeed in the South, whether you like it or not. More so poor than anything else. It costs rink time.

Lots of great soccer players have come from Jersey, New York, Illinois, and states that are rather chilly in even November.

So no, you're wrong without question.

Hell, even I played hockey during the summer and the ice was fine in Frederick.

Probably not, but that's more to fault of hockey not being a sport that can be played everywhere instead the intelligence of a population.
Yes, the Nascar populous and baseball populous are so very smart.

Have you even played hockey?

No. You don't know what you're talking about.

God you're dense. Ok let's do some thinking here. When did hockey gain it's popularity and "hayday"? The late 1960s and 1970s(mainly the 70's) and somewhat in the 80's before things crashed in the 90's. Yes today technology allows us to create ice in air conditioned arenas, that is correct. But how long has that technology been around? Since the 1980s? Maybe.

So now that you've admitted that the South is a bastion of poverty. So let's put two and two together and see if we can figure out why the slack jawed yocals in the south just aren't smart enough to build a hockey rink. Maybe it's because the South has a rather warm climate and it costs a friggin' fortune to build an arena and make ice. Add into that the time when hockey was becoming important in the northeast and midwest, 1970s. The South didn't have air conditioning then, well you had to be rich to have it. And now that they do have that technology, the culture already stipulates an atmosphere in which other sports are way more popular because that's what kids grew up playing. It has nothing to do with how smart you are. Hockey fans aren't that smart either.

So I think it's you that is wrong on all accounts from your ignorant labeling of southerner to your judgement of places you've never really been to.

Im going to ignore your comment about soccer because it was absolutely no bearing in this case.

The longest time you've spent in Alabama was?
I as actually kidding. Threw in some Lynyrd Skynyrd with a movie quote. I have a friend down in Mobile, only been to Alabama once. I do enjoy the SC coast though. Gets mighty hot down there though. AND I have a friend in Savannah that is an engineer for gulfstream. I don't mind the south, though the humidity there can be somewhat overbearing.

Oh fuck you dick cheese. You love Italy and you've never been out of the country so fuck you. I've gone to school with hockey players and they aren't any smarter than any other student athlete. Some come smart and some come stupid.

If you go around thinking that everyone who watches NASCAR or attends a baseball game is an idiot then you're nothing but an ignorant dumbass.

Finally an honest answer.

1970's, actually.

But I thought we were talking about today rather than 30 years ago. If you want to say 30 years ago and before expansion teams came to rise, then sure, go for it. But today is a different story.

And the South still blows dick, by the way.

So now that you've admitted that the South is a bastion of poverty. Again, your original point only holds true if we're talking 30 years ago. THAT'S ALL! The temperature outside has extremely little bearing on the ice rink indoors nowadays.

Have you played hockey in a semi-outdoor rink during 85 degree F weather in July? I HAVE, in Frederick, so don't give me this bullshit.

Add into that the time when hockey was becoming important in the northeast and midwest, 1970s. The South didn't have air conditioning then, well you had to be rich to have it. But you said that the temperatures outside have bearing on hockey today. That was your original point.

I countered by saying that nowadays it costs a lot for rink time and that is the truth, so the poor parts of the country wouldn't be able to afford it.

Again, have you played hockey?

Hockey fans aren't that smart either.
Neither are people from the South.

I've been to them, I just don't like them.

You were apparently offended by that, which is fantastic.

And, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You guys blast Michigan all day long but I don't complain. I say something about the South and you go insane, calling me ignorant. What do you know about Michigan, chump?

Grow up.

I never said I love Italy. I said I love Italian football, which I do, which I can see on TV, which I can see on the internet, which I can... ahh, what am I'm kidding.

Why did I even talk to someone from Texas anyway.

Glad to see you still have the maturity of a 14 year girl. Once again you're an ignorant fuck. The question was why hockey isn't popular in the south? You're answer was that the South sucks and their dummies down there.

That's a great fucking answer if you're retarded. The truth of the matter goes back 30 years. If people in the South had 30 years of hockey in their blood it would be a top sport in the South. But they don't, hockey isn't popular. It's as simple as that.

And I did say that hockey got popular mainly in the 1970's, though I've read books that say it started in the late 1960's.

Again, your original point only holds true if we're talking 30 years ago. THAT'S ALL! The temperature outside has extremely little bearing on the ice rink indoors nowadays.

Once again. In order to understand why something is popular today you have to examine how it became that way. Hockey is popular in the North because people have played and had the ability, through finances, weather, etc, to play hockey for thirty years. In the South they've played football and baseball for thirty years.

I could care less if you've played hockey in a desert the technology was still different when hockey was becoming popular that it is today.

But you said that the temperatures outside have bearing on hockey today. That was your original point.

I countered by saying that nowadays it costs a lot for rink time and that is the truth, so the poor parts of the country wouldn't be able to afford it.

The temperatures still do have a bearing on the ability to build hockey arenas on the basis of cost. The hotter the temperature the more energy is required to freeze the ice, that energy costs money. Yeah we agree that a lot of the South is poor, but that doesn't make the people slack jawed hicks. I'm from the south and my jaw doesn't appear to be slacked and last time I checked I'm not retarded.

And no I've never played hockey on ice.

Neither are people from the South.
Fair enough. Making offensive generalization makes you ignorant whether you like it or not.

You dumb shit. I'm not the one who rags on Michigan.

You're excited to insult someone and I'm the one who needs to grow up?

You're the one who always insults things he has no idea about and gets upset when he hits the wrong vain and gets called an ignorant fuck. Sounds like you're the one at fault and you're then one who needs to grow up.
