Brian Cox and Lee Cronin have really caught my attention lately. Have you learned about Lee’s paper on assembly theory? Amazing imo.
and now Cox has shifted his focus to black holes which 10x my interest and learning
Yes I listen to Brian Cox every now and then. He is good, maybe it’s the British accent that just works. Also finished his book ‘Human Universe’ around spring last year. He’s always a bit pessimistic about the possibilities of intelligent life on other planets which I find odd.
About Lee Cronin, since you tagged me it kinda stayed half on my radar. I remember one good podcast with Lex Fridman when the theory was still relatively new, if I remember correctly he got emotional there after all the pushback he received. Can’t say I know all the ins- and outs about the theory, if I’m not mistaken the pushback is mostly because he suggests that evolution follows a intelligent path along with a random path, where the first part goes against the general consensus regarding evolution.

Nice! I was just at the observatory in LA last weekend but the motor that opens the dome wasn’t working so we couldn’t see through the telescope
That’s sad man. This was my second time, first time was before the summer but there were too many clouds to see anything. You guys probably have even better telescopes, this one wasn’t even that big I think that I could afford it, sad that I live in a place with too much light pollution
It’s really a achievement if youre able to just recognise all the stars by name, damn what a talented guy yesterday. I should adopt him
