Yes, and that’s a big contradiction. I would struggle with that if I went to church. Ashes to dust fits science. We’re made of out the atoms born during Supernova and the Big Bang, called stardust. And when we die, the atoms in our body don’t disintegrate, they continue to live and will form molecules when they react with a different environment. So they’re basically back to dust. I find it crazy that we can find that in such a old book, although it remains religion so things are open for interpretation I guess, but this is my view on the quote.
It's not crazy at all, because people have seen it happen since the dawn of time. A corpse decomposes and eventually becomes dust. It's not an astute observation.

Now turn it around, most people in this current era don’t even know that we’re made out of atoms who were born during those high energy events, let alone 3000 years ago when someone wrote that on paper.

Ok, the decomposition part is easy, but you have to admit that the creation part from Genesis "God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into him the breath of life; and man became a living soul" is pretty cool.

No offence, but I think you may need to read a Greek philosopher or two.

I'm not saying it's not cool that it's in the Bible. But it wasn't new back then either. I mean, you could even argue the dust to dust bit just expands on "panta rhei", which was about 500 years before.

I would admit that it is well written.

But it is not a new observation at all.

This is not a religious discussion though mate, I’m not defending the Bible. The PoV was discussing death (or at least I responded to one of Gordo’s his old fears in regards to being afraid of losing a parent), I just find that ancient quote accurate and cool, because we can put a scientific framework over it.

No, it isn't a religious discussion. But it is a debate about literature and science.

The Bible at times is worded quite nicely. But when people claim it's kind of cool that the principle of dust to dust is in the Bible, I want to point out that this was not a new concept even at the time.

    WHOAAAAAAH!

You're going to poop your pants when you realize the attraction to different atomic particles is caused by photons; thereby meaning we are all composed of light.

Councils of Nicea saw to that.

You could probably sell them for more, so try to get an idea of their worth. If someone will pony up 5k for them, get ‘er done

Or you could learn how to do it, a thin layer of clear epoxy might be enough.
