Are you close to getting house AKA my free accommodation in NYC?

Realistically speaking, how long does it take for the average person to save up for a house deposit in NYC?
I was, and then interest rates ended my life :sigh:. It's hard on one income. I'm also hoping to cut my income in more than half for another job where I could at least retire early, since I can't seem to afford shit anyway.

Depends, do you want this
https://streeteasy.com/sale/1659230
this,
https://streeteasy.com/sale/1663365
or this? :D
https://streeteasy.com/sale/1637995

The median price is around like $700,000 though, if you want to play with some math.

A job where you could retire early? like how early? Cut your salary in half? What is this witchery? I assume they'd make huge contributions towards your pension?

I liek option 2 but I'd have to sell my soul.

I saw a dude on IG the other day who was showing the most expensive apartment in the Financial District. Nice as shit place, 3BR, 3 Bath. About the same livable size as my house.

My house is valued at like 175k, this place was 22.5k a month.

If I knew that shit, as a homeless dude, I would stab your children for bagels.

Work about 22 years, make a minimum of $2 million over that time (starting pay is abysmal though), do max like 3-4 hours of work in a day, then you can retire with a full pension :agree:. A word that no long exists in the private sector.

Oh they know, that's how they got there in the first place. You could maybe get a studio for that now :touched:. My home is about $1,200 sq/ft, could probably get $600,000 or so for it, but would be more if it didn't need so much work done.

Prices have gone completely off the rails since the start of the pandemic, it's unreal. You would think they would come down as mortgage rate rise but it's really not. I don't understand where all of this money is coming from.

175k? Daaaaamn. I need to move to Gheyssex.

3 bedroom houses near me are no less than USD 440k and expect to pay at least 125k more if you want it to be semi-detached. And this is fucking Reading lmao. A shithole of a town.

Military. At least here, offers "all" of those options.

My boy is 10 in for the Air Force, will do his 20 and be out before 40. Probably walk around government jobs as he has an SCI.
