Yes I think there are versions where you look through one eye also.

Obviously the bi- prefix means "two" but tele- I believe just means "from afar" or "at a distance", that sort of thing.

Damn. I never heard "tower viewer", but that's what it is. They aren't technically binoculars, as they are fixed-mount. But some might call them "coin-operated binoculars".
