Auto focus? I don't shoot Sony because the lenses are expensive. BTW, I'm waiting to watch the solar eclipse.

Should work too, motor for the focus sits in the body, not in the lens as far as i know (been a long time Nikon user myself)

Nope. Never been to Zanzibar but I hear it's chill. I think the whole Kenyan and Tanzanian coast has pretty much the same laid back culture.
