I lived with a couple when on Erasmus in Bologna and they were part of a group of 15 Australians living there for a year. I have never met people less able to blend in. Everything about them screamed foreigner. Not one of them managed to speak basic Italian after a year either. And I mean basic. Like yes and no stuff. Completely oblivious to certain Italian customs too which made us look rude wherever we went if we went out with them.

Btw you probably wouldn't expect this, but there were also two Americans who tried to speak Italian the day they landed and did everything they could to learn about the country.

Maybe it's because Australia's so far removed from everything else I don't know. Or maybe they were just a bunch of idiots.
Australians tend to be a bunch of idiots in general, from what I understand.

...there are some core financial planning skills that all paraplanners perform to a lesser or greater extent and would form the basis of any Paraplanning role. These are:

-Excellent report writing skills
-Ability to analyse statistics
-Ability to conduct research for appropriate providers and investments
-Good understanding of compliance issues
-Good time management skills
-Excellent interpersonal and IT skills

Good thing I've been up in Napa for the weekend, though I expected I could see the mushroom cloud from here.

Fuck all of you salty Europeans and Americans for talking shit about the glorious country of Australia and my countrymen. I hope you all have shitty days.
Case and point: and the lead BBC story today related to Australia? The toddler born with three legs who had one surgically removed. :pado:

My gf told me that Australia is OK. :baus:
That's 'cause she was assaulted by a wombat.

 I love it because it's racist in two different directions at once.

Imagine if it was the other way around.
I'm not so sure it already isn't.

They used to call it the Tenderloin because police who did their dangerous beat there made a little extra coin to afford tenderloin cuts of meat for the family.

Now it's called that because waking up on its streets at 8am on a Sunday is usually accompanied with groin pain.

I disagree actually. I think you can avoid those situations, but doing so is in itself a sort of reaction that some here were calling rather infantile ... the same kind of reaction that made Fr3sh break things off with someone he was getting too scarily into.

I'm sure avoiding someone you're starting to develop feelings for might be the safe option. But don't you feel it a little odd if you have parents and young people ghosting each other and playing games like that rather than face their own ability to act responsibility through their feelings while still maintaining a normally required discourse?

Aversion therapy isn't something I would call the pinnacle of maturity, emotional or otherwise.
I completely disagree. I find it infantile just to to do what you desire. My point is when you decide to put yourself in a posisition, where you start develop these feelings. In some situatuions it's a no go, but - ofcourse, not all the time.

Edit - But I get your overall point and it got me thinking. I like that.

But isn't the truly mature thing to master your feelings? To not succumb to them like some kind of thoughtless dog with a bowl of bones put infront of it?

If so, then the act of avoiding situations or thinking you can prevent developing feelings for someone is kind of like pulling the safety cord in not trusting yourself, not trusting your ability to be emotionally mature, and succumbing to the idea that you have no self-control?

No. It's truly mature to master when to do it and when not to do it.
It has nothing to do with trusting yourself. What I wrote was from a very specific situation. There's usually also other people involved and you have to think about them too. How can you do that if you whatever feels good?
