Of course the situation here is preferable to the horros they have to deal with in Syria & Co, but it's still absolutely despiccable how they're seen in the eyes of a large part of the population and how public discussion on the matter is held. For some reason, there's the widespread belief that they're some sort of spoilt lazy cowards who don't want to deal with the problems in their home countries and leave their families behind to live in Austria in luxury and costing the state a fortune :sergio: And I'm not even exaggerating...

Those tax rates pay back tripe and fourfold for everyone involved though :p

Of course it was just one of those 10.000 "Einzelfällen" though, "in no way representing the opinion of the party" :andyandbarcelona:
I was actually comparing Western European countries to the more affluent countries in the middle east not to Syria and co, i agree with you about the rise of radical anti immigration right wing, what i was saying though is that as bad as it has become there its still miles better than they would get in affluent middle eastern countries.

As for taxes, I'd rather be free to spend my money than trust the government to do it for me:p

Then exorbitant university costs & unaffordable healthcare are the logical consequence ;)

If the state doesn't basically have all the oil money in the world that is.

Pretty much every single travel advice concerning India warns for:
- several unstable regions with little to no government control;
- extensive violence against women;
- terrorism threats all over India.

This is not just me saying it. It's EVERYONE saying it. It's friggin' India. The level of safety is nowhere near that of the USA, Australia, the UK, Belgium, Spain or Italy. It's not even close.

OK, I see it from your perspective now. Stay away from India. Don't come here at all.

Dude. Something is seriously wrong if you can't acknowledge that India isn't exactly the safest place on Earth. Your own government can't even control all regions in your country.

It's like me saying Belgium is the biggest country in the world.

But people have enough income to pay for education if they choose to do so, since the government isnt pinching them of half the money they earn.

I never said the UAE was dangerous for tourists..

Note for example @Sheik Yerbouti that the UK travel advice for the UAE says most visits are troublefree. This isn't some Western bias.
Thank you.

:sergio: I'm not refusing to acknowledge that. I've just seen a different side of India that you can't believe. Which is why I accepted your perspective of a traveller as opposed to mine as a citizen.

The entire debate was whether or not India was inherently safe for tourists..
Depends what tourist imo. Unfortunately whites and blacks aren't perceived the same way.

I can be seen as some random foreign worker, youd be seen as a balling tourist with that €€€¥¥£₩€££$$ so you get robbed.

Belgium, I walk into a bar full of neo nazi, I die.

Lol. You'd have a pretty hard time finding those bars. Not saying they don't exist, they probably do, but I doubt you'd stumble upon them in downtown Antwerp as a foreign national. You're far more likely to get killed by accident in a cocaine deal going wrong.
