Nuh uh. You're confusing it with the latte macchiato.
Trouble is you just say "macchiato", and most sane parts of the world think "caffè macchiato". But go to the Pacific Northwest or Starbucks, and you'll often get the latte macchiato ... basically a hideous milkshake with minimal "coffee flavoring".

Oh yes, it's always amusing whenever I take someone whose only coffee experience has been Starbucks to a more authentic cafe. They get so confused about what gets put in front of them.
When Starbucks is my only option, I have to get a triple shot just to be able to taste the actual coffee.
